OUR YEAR

Fall Play

This production typically rehearses in September, October and November with performances in the month of November. The fall play offers an opportunity to enrich the students access to dramatic and comedic playwrights that include contemporary and classical selections. Students are challenged to step outside their comfort zone to explore the rigors of performing and the psychology of playing a person other than themselves. The fall play is also a chance for students to participate in off stage roles, including: stage management, lighting, sound, video production, marketing/promotion and set construction.

Freeplay: A Night of Improv Comedy

Structured based on professional improvisation companies and performances, Wilton High students have the chance to hone their creative abilities as improvisors in this process and production. Physically and mentally demanding, there are no lines to memorize or staging to write down. Improvisation requires quick wit, anticipation, teamwork and a daringness to achieve the laugh! Students are coached throughout the rehearsal period on how to strengthen their abilities and break down their own boundaries to succeed. Freeplay rehearses in November, December and January.

Senior Show

It is a time honored tradition that Wilton High School seniors have a show produced specifically for them. This opportunity for the graduating class serves as a bonding experience and many students that participate have never performed in a theater production. The content of senior show has changed over the years but has always been a musical whether published or original. Wilton is one of the only schools in Fairfield County that continue to produce this kind of opportunity only for seniors. Senior show rehearses in November, December and January.

Spring Musical

The spring musical culminates our year of theater. The spring musical endeavors to be the largest student participated production of the year utilizing the talents of our actors, singers, dancers, musicians and crew. From the classical scores of Rogers & Hammerstein to the familiar tunes of Disney to the contemporary stories you’ve seen on Broadway, Wilton High has an established reputation for professional quality productions.
